For clarity as there wil be other readers of this thread. Whether "wavin:0,0" works or not depends on arecord and Alsa - not the plugin. Alsa has "default" as a device , it is possible that some version of ALSA or arecord parsed 0,0 as 0 which is the same as "default" or maybe plughw:0,0 "plughw" devices can do software conversion such as resampling and usually plughw:0,0 functionality is the same as default.
