This seems to have fixed it for me but time will tell:

If the Boom was turned on using the web interface, turning it off with
the button on front of the Boom results in this problem. If turned off
with the web interface the problem goes away/does not occur.

Normally I only use the buttons on the Boom to use it - not the web
interface. Back when this started I was using he web interface to fix
some radio station stream URLs and generally clean up my favorites list.
So likely I turned it on with the web interface and turned it off with
the button - problem started. Somewhere in there the problem came and
went away a few times - probably as I was randomly using the web
interface (or maybe when the LMS software restarts it goes back to the
default of off).

Then a couple days ago I was in the web interface to control the
Transporter but selected the Boom by mistake - problem starts again. In
talking about it here and experimenting it dawned on my yesterday to
power it off with the web interface - magically problem solved. Before
I did this it would power back on within 5 minutes of turning it off
with the control button.
