That does seem odd.
If the attempt to set the time on the system had failed on boot then
01/01/1970 at some point around midnight subject to locally configured
time zone offset is reasonable.
However, the clock would then start running so the completed scan would
have been at some period later than that false boot time.
So - looks like the time recorded for the scan completion was somehow
set to 0.

However, the New Music is based on the times of the individual files on
disk and they are probably correct.

Maybe the scan completely failed and the old music database was left
untouched.

Any hints in the scanner.log and server.log ?
