I think that the device certification model used by Google makes it very hard for an open software Chromecast player to exist so it is not really possible (at present at least) to make a Squeezebox device look like a Chromecast device.
However, another route would be to use voice input to Google Home to control LMS. There are some documented ways to achieve that.
