i was just wondering, if it is possible to prevent the scanner from scanning for covers (as it always stucks on my system and i absolutely do not need any cover-art at all ...) ?
You can disable the pre-caching the artwork images (which is likely what is causing your problems), but not the scan for artwork. See Settings/Advanced/Performance.
