Popped into my head again today ... and I did a bit more research and stumbled upon "emscripten" which can port from C (and others) to JavaScript.
I wonder if a reduced functionality version of Squeezelite (eg always requiring LMS to transcode to something easyish to handle in JavaScript) would be feasible.
