I think you have a number of issues - so you need to deal with some basics before the others become apparent. Upgrade to 8.0.1 - the library IO::Socket:SSL is only 2.02 and for many source you need at least 2.06 which IIRC only comes with the 8.* builds. This should clear up some of the repository and connection timed out errors. This is not the whole solution but it should remove message from separate issues. Separately, the BBCiPlayer plugin is "End of Life". The "Listen Again" menua are all broken as BBC has killed off the feed.
