I'm on Gentoo. Everything is source built on the machine itself.
Then you should make sure that you use both Scan.pm as well as Scan.so out of that source build (applies to all Perl modules). If Scan.pm is taken from the tarball, then there could be conflicts. Search your installation for any Audio/Scan.pm file. Where would they be stored?
