Great catch! I spotted that there were now two identical tracks listed
in LMS but only one flac file. It used to play fine in 7.9.3. I upgraded
to 8.0.0 when it changed to the release version of 8.0.0 - 1605892076 @
Fri Nov 20 21:33:25 CET 2020. (I was rather surprised that a release
version was a double dotted zero release. Ah well, my bad for ignoring
an old hard-learned lesson!)  ;-)

Anyway I found in track details that one file format was flac and the
other cur. WTF???
So I checked the folder and there was indeed a spurious EAC .cue file
present. I wish there was an easy way to have LMS ignore spurious .cue
files, trouble is some get interpreted as playlists, but others are
useful for old DAO flac files (though I try to convert them) so it's not
as easy as using the catch-all File Types disable extension option.
See
https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?110218-Scanner-log-has-lots-of-refs-to-playlists-and-missing-wavs-from-cue-files/

So I deleted the spurious cue file and did a changed library scan but it
now has removed the flac fie and only has the cur and wont play,

Code:
--------------------

  [20-12-25 19:29:04.8983] Slim::Player::Song::open (413) Error: Couldn't
create command line for cur playback for
[file:///mnt/music/Barry%20Adamson/(CD%20STUMM%20134)%20Barry%20Adamson%20-%20Oedipus%20Schmoedipus%20(1996)@/01%20Set%20The%20Controls%20For%20The%20Heart%20Of%20The%20Pelvis.flac]
  [20-12-25 19:29:15.0829] Slim::Formats::loadTagFormatForType (120) Error:
Couldn't load module: (cur) : [syntax error at (eval 1248) line 1, at EOF
  ]
  [20-12-25 19:29:15.0834] Slim::Formats::loadTagFormatForType (120) Backtrace:
  etc.

--------------------

So it looks like a full rescan. :-(

But all this was compounded by the fact that I'd also added a new
soundcard in my PC and had misconfigured it in Squeezelite-X as a WASAPI
interface so it must have blocked trying to get exclusive access, but it
didn't throw any error. Changing the interface type to Directsound
allowed it to play.

RE: 8.1./8.0.1, I hit a library rescan bug after going to 8.0.0 but was
advised to stick with 8.0.0 as the most stable version if I disabled the
online library integration plugin.

Also I no longer appear to get notifications of new LMS release info any
more so am in the dark about any new releases.
