Well, after a lot of searches in the forums and GOOGLE, I finally found the culprit :
It was an outdated IO::Socket::SSL in MacOS 10.11 (El Capitan) Updating to 1.1.1i from here: https://www.openssl.org/source/openssl-1.1.1i.tar.gz was quite easy following the advice in https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?113474-Mac-OS-X-and-IO-Socket-SSL However, it is still mysterious to me why only the ALAC streams were not working. The FLAC, MP3 and PCM streams worked perfectly under the old configuration. The new SSL sockets solved every connection and streaming problems I had. I am back to listening to my music.
