Agree. for example, I use ATT DSL internet at my weekend place.  The ATT
person that initially set it all up was very clear that you couldn't use
another router, you couldn't change certain settings, etc. Made it sound
like impossible!  After he left, I logged into the GUI of the ATT
modem/router, made a few changes in settings regarding handing out IP
addresses and installed my own separate Router, connected to the ATT
router/modem via an ethernet cable, and use my own router to talk to my
devices on my internal network. No problems.
