No good reason, no, except that we'd have to re-build binaries for
dozens of platforms and Perl combinations.
Can't you do this when you release LMS 8.1.2? Seems like the
Transporter people are being left behind, and most of them will have no
idea on how to fix.
You probably didn't understand the phrase "re-build binaries for dozens
of platforms and Perl combinations" :-). It's a lot of work for a small
niche. I'd rather remove it completely as it seems to be simple enough
to install through package managers. Your installation would work if you
removed the Font::FreeType.pm from LMS?
