Maybe it's time to revisit Check for Updates, making it more immediate,
actionable, and helpful.

Currently, when you Check for Updates, or if an update is "available"
(you see the message in the web interface), the links take you to an
info page, and then offer to take you to an a page with even more info.
But you can't do anything from there. From a user's perspective when
you Check for Updates, nothing happens, and it's unclear what should
happen, or what is happening in the background. It's a tease.

If I recall correctly, LMS will download the software eventually, and
offer to install. The problem is, that might be tomorrow, or the next
day, when yet another update is available, and the non-deterministic
waiting repeats.

Maybe this very lazy download made sense 10 years ago. But today, the
40-50Mb is trivial, and there should be an Update Now button that starts
the process for users.

I'm using LMS 8.2 nightly, and so go manually download the update
anyway. I have no idea if LMS had already downloaded it, often it has,
and so the downloads are doubled, and sometimes the installation
requires two runs.

Any possibility that entire procedure can be advanced to modern
practices?
