direct streaming means the data stream goes direct from broadcaster to player - and not through the LMS server. This is most efficient but the player must be able to play the audio codec natively and if necessary also support https. Proxied streaming means LMS inserts itself into the interaction so station audio data goes to LMS and then from LMS to player. Since "proxied streaming" worked - it means there is a problem with your player. If it is squeezelite - then it may need to be updated. If it is up to date then it is a new bug. What is your player ? What is the version of software ?
