Custom Scan is used to scan extra tags not normally supported by LMS
into its database, the extra tags are typically used by SQL Playlist
plugin or Custom Browse plugin. The Custom Scan plugin is also used to
manage the iTunes/MusicIP/Amarok import/export functionality bundled
with TrackStat. There is a LastFM import module included in Cusom Scan
that can be used to retrieve artist images but I believe LMS core have
similar functionality these days. Finally there is a Rating Tag module
in Custom Scan that can be used to import ratings from tags in music
files. If you dont use any of this functionality you can safely
uninstall Custom Scan and continue to use TrackStat without it.
