Another RPi supporter here ... sorry ... but some ideas might help as
well.

I've setup a RPi Zero 2W as an LMS for travel over Christmas.

I also prepared a very old Apple Airport Express and configured it as a
wired access point. It has the same WiFi SSID and passphrase as the home
setup so it should mean that it simply has to be connected via Ethernet
to the router at the destination location and then everyone who already
has their phone & laptop configured to access the home network will
automatically connect in the Christmas location - both for internet and
music. Also sending a battery powered AirPlay device which should also
automatically connect to the familiar WiFi.

The LMS will connect via WiFi but if Ethernet (I have USB to Ethernet
hub) is in a convenient location (eg near a TV) then will probably
switch it to wired and use HDMI out as an extra player from the LMS
device. In this set-up it might be necessary to fiddle with network
addresses but only needed if too much WiFi traffic for stable play.

On Windows ... LMS puts files in particular places so you would have to
use command line parameters to put them in places it can access (rather
than ProgramData).
