Thanks for the info @bpa, I was able to make it work changing
/etc/squeezeboxserver/custom-convert.conf to:

Unfortunately I encountered similar issues within the UI having no
title, song info etc. nor the possibility to seek but was able to
pause/resume/rewind. But at least it works, yeah :D.
