First of all: there's no official support for any NAS any more. Neither support by the NAS vendor nor by Logitech. You're on your own (and the community).

Therefore it doesn't really matter what NAS you buy. IMHO you have to options:

- get a powerful NAS which can run LMS in Docker, get familiar with Docker
- get a Raspberry Pi to run LMS on, enjoy the independence, and keep things simple using eg. picoreplayer.org

Docker:
Pro: single box.
Contra: requires some more technical understanding to work around some of the challenges (eg. using Spotty in Connect mode), requires a more powerful (thus power consuming and expensive) NAS. Unless you need the power anyway this could be more expensive than running an addition device like the Pi.

Pi:
Pro: total independence, better support (you can run the official .deb package, or pCP based on the official tarball), less compatibility challenges (as long as you use the Pi for LMS but nothing else).
Contra: an additional device with more cables.

I'm in the Pi camp, despite having a fat NAS with 16GB of RAM. My music continues to play while I update or reboot the NAS :-).
