I've been having exactly the same issue.

However, after looking at this thread and my material settings I think
I've found a solution.

I originally had the random mix set to 10 historic, 10 upcoming and the
continuous box ticked.

This didn't work as the mix stopped at the end of the tenth track.

I then went into player settings to switch on Don't Stop The Music, it
was on disabled. I noticed when I chose to switch it on that you could
scroll all the way down so you could select individual radio stations
etc and I saw 'song mix'

I selected that and my random mix playback is now fixed :)

Photos show the options chosen from start to finish. Now I've no idea if
that is why MY random mix wasn't working correctly but it is now, and
I've no doubt just passed on info that you knew already, if so then no
