OMG, it was that simple! Jeez I feel dumb! :-( I don't 'play with' LMS it just runs for years without problems, so when it does go 'wrong' I've forgotten how I set it up in the first place. Many thanks, and especially for including the instructions on how to 'recover' my interface.
