I am making slow progress. If I just try to capture audio from Squeezelite without listening to it I can select my loopback device as the Squeezelite output device (hw:3,0,0) and I can run arecord -vv -D hw:3,1,0 -f S32_LE -r 44100 -c 2 /dev/null where hw:3,1,0 is the other half of the loopback device and see that data is being transferred by the "vu" meter movement. My issue now is with your ffmpeg command to save the audio. I get an error cannot set sample format 0x10000 2 (Invalid argument) hw:3,1,0: Input/output error
