I can't decide myself if it's worth it or not. But it is sooo convenient
that I'll keep it for a while. Like you said it's fine for background
music but for any type of serious listening it is really quite poor.
Also, add to that their selection isn't as large as they would like you
to think. For instance, no Frank Zappa, no Dave Matthews band, no Red
Hot Chili Peppers ...

Well, I guess nothing is perfect. Just will have to wait and see if
there will be a better solution in the future. Maybe someone will
create an "audiophile" service for the rest of use. Many people just
don't care or can't hear the quality difference.
