Over the past 12 months, the Engineering team has been working on improving the SqueezeNetwork server infrastructure. The goals of these improvements are to:
1. Allow more Squeezeboxes to be connected simultaneously, 2. Improve the reliability of Squeezebox connectivity and SqueezeNetwork, 3. Speed up interaction between Squeezeboxes and SqueezeNetwork, and 4. Make it easier to setup your SqueezeNetwork services. The initial development and testing of these changes are now complete, and we will need to interrupt service for 1 hour on Thursday February 28, 2008 to implement these changes. The outage is planned for between 6 am and 7 am California time. During that time, we will be moving all of your current SqueezeNetwork settings to our new SqueezeNetwork servers. This outage will primarily affect users which have Squeezeboxes connected only to SqueezeNetwork. It may also affect users connected primarily to Slimserver/SqueezeCenter that are relying on SqueezeNetwork-provided features. Please note that if you are a SqueezeNetwork-only user and use the Squeezeboxs alarm clock feature to wake you up during the outage that IT WILL NOT WORK. Heres the timeline we are planning to follow: THURSDAY FEB 28 4-6 am California time - Small chance of users experiencing intermittent connection to www.squeezenetwork.com for SN-only users. 6 am - Squeezeboxes will have "down for maintenance" on the display, and may go dark during part of this hour. - Entire database of old SN user settings copied to new SN. - Move www.squeezenetwork.com URL to point to new servers. 7 am - www.squeezenetwork.com comes back up on new servers After this outage is over, your Squeezebox should function normally again.
