The files are fed via the server so you will get two wireless hops. This may or may not be a problem depending upon wireless performance.
Generally it is better to have the server and any external storage connected by ethernet to the network. I'd guess that you have a number of computers accessing the NAS which is why you have it wired direct. This is a good idea.
