Thanks for the suggestions. I just found out that the problem also occurs on Rhapsody Direct through Tivo, so I think it's a Rhapsody problem. I finally got in touch with someone at Rhapsody who (I think/hope) can help, though the strange symptoms do seem to baffle them. We'll see if they can fix it.
