You should automatically be offered an upgrade if you are running SqueezeCenter 7.3. Be aware though that the 7.3 controller firmware is very much bleeding edge beta stuff at the moment. In fact a recent version of the firmware caused the controller to spontanously rebooted. Currently a fix for that hasn't yet been pushed (the workaround is to downgrade). If you do decide to go for it its a good idea to follow the beta forum regularly, submit bug reports and perhaps follow the svn checkin list.
