Port forwarding is so that the outside world can initiate a connection to your machine behind a router or firewall. The trick is that the outside world isn't initiating a connection at all: your Boom connected to SN (it started the connection, just like if it was a laptop on your network connecting to a remote site)... it just keeps the connection open as long as it is signed into SN. When you press play on the web interface, SN uses that existing open connection to tell your Boom, "hey go look at this site for a stream of music!" and your Boom, again, initiates a connection to some web radio stream and keeps it open as long as it keeps streaming. So, no, you don't need to mess with port forwards and opening up connections in your firewall for 'most' things (unless you are weird and stream music from home to work or some such). It should Just Work as well as any other device on your network. -- snarlydwarf ------------------------------------------------------------------------ snarlydwarf's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1179 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=56153 _______________________________________________ squeezenetwork mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/squeezenetwork
