WPA is highly recomended anyway from a security standpoint. WEP is
pathetic.

Again, your connection to your router has nothing to so with SN. Think
of it this way, if your laptop was having problems connecting to your
wirless network, would you blame Google or Wikipedia for only working
with a particular encryption which is restricted to your house?

However, there is clearly an issue between the players firmware and
your router when using WEP. But changing to WPA is an acceptable work
around for all concerned I think.
