Hi, I've always wondered why support has to get involved. Why not let users delete/un-register squeezebox devices via a mysqueezebox web page, once they log in. (what account deletes/unregisters could be tracked)
What's the worst that could happen? A persistent hacker, after they register for a mysqeezebox account, could guess a few MAC addresses and delete a few devices; so the real owners re-register them. The hacker gets little "reward" because they won't know who's device they hacked. A real world comparison: Panasonic Web Cams. Panasonic runs a reverse dynamic DNS server for some models of Panasonic Web Cams. (You can find your webcam on the internet by name, not just IP). Users can delete/un-register ANY MAC address from the database. This has been available for at least five years and doesn't seem to be abused, because it currently working as I describe.
