I've been using SB3's for over 6 years now, only for Internet radio,
never anything else. Until this year the reliability of the server
connection to mysqueezebox.com (and its predecessors) has had its
occasional bad days, but has generally been pretty reliable. I'm in
Hong Kong, and most times I checked, it was connected to servers in the
USA.

Now? Forget about it! For months, menus are sluggish. Once I connect to
Internet radio, I get the "Can't connect to server" message every 45
seconds! Stations have to rebuffer. It's impossible to use. I've pretty
much quit using it except for the alarm (which has also malfunctioned
lately).

Has nothing to do with my setup. I have one SB3 at home and one in my
wife's office. Different ISPs, different modems and routers, but
identical problem. No matter how many times I reset my router and
modem, the problem remains. I check my connection speed and ping speed
to the US, and it's fast and clean. I listen to it (or try to) mostly
at night, when all computers are off and nothing shares the network
except my Squeezebox (and that's also why I rely on mysqueezebox.com
rather than routing it through my computer).

The identical stations, when streamed on a computer through Winamp or
the equivalent (not using my Squeezebox), rarely lose their connection.
So it isn't the stations either.

I place all the blame on Logitech's network. Maybe it's too crowded. Or
maybe they just don't give a hoot about customers outside the USA and
Europe. I wish their engineers would do something about this, but I'm
not holding my breath.

Squeezebox hardware is great. The network stinks. Any plans to upgrade
to a SB Touch are certainly cancelled.
