Michael, with respect I don't think you, me or anyone else knows what
can be connected to mysqueezebox.com and what can't.
Why not? My boss would probably expect me to know...
Sure, somebody could always cheat his way around the limitations imposed
(as they're not really strong). But software players IMHO should not be
able to connect. At least I thought that was what some code was used
for. If it's working, but it doesn't work as expected (by the user),
then this might be a side-effect of using a feature which is not
supposed to work :-).

here where users are using mysqueezebox.com with software players.
Using mysb is not the same as connecting a player to it. If you're using
TIDAL, you're using mysb, even though it doesn't work if your player is
connected to mysb. TIDAL needs LMS. But you're still using mysb.
My "bedroom" pCP is connected and playing right now just to prove it's
possible.
May I ask how you did this?
