My WCCPv2 doesn't seem to work at all actually, config looks like this:

The culpit is the wccp2_outgoing_address. If you set
wccp2_incoming_address instead it should not crash.
Yup, spot on. The error has gone if I take out the wccp_outgoing_address
directive. I'd had it because I have two IP addresses bound to eth0.
Now router and cache are talking but we're not seeing squid as a registered
cache and therefore no traffic is being redirected:
