I often see new Squid users bumping against process size resource limits (such as on FreeBSD), and being displeased that Squid handles them so gracelessly (i.e., coring).

Is there anything that can be done to make this more friendly -- e.g., dynamically reducing cache_mem, or even just exiting more cleanly, with a clear error message?

Cheers,
