Wit bzr being a python package it doesn't really need much of
installation.. can run directly out of the source tree. But not sure
about the bzrtools plugin... (not strictly needed, but things gets a bit
easier with it and current instructions based on having bzrtools)

On proprietary Unix a binary package for Python 2.4 or better is not always simple to find:
