Thanks.

I realize that it is too late for new features to be included in any 2.6 release, but figured I should expose the code that works today (which is based on 2.6 STABLE20) somewhere.

Its probably a couple of hundred lines of code or less. I'll see about putting the diff in bugzilla.

Squid-2.6 isn't open for fresh features at the moment. It may or may
not be that difficult to merge it into Squid-2.HEAD and then merge
it down into Squid-2.7 once thats been released and is tested stable.

How big a diff is it? Could you put it into a bugzilla entry?

Hello,

I've been making reverse proxy tweaks to a local branch of Squid 2.6 for a couple of years. One of the tweaks is a "variable expiration" mechanism that is similar in spirit to the "cache channels" idea, but aimed more toward fine-grained read/write content. Its pretty mature and might be of interest to someone out there, so I come seeking permission to host it on devel.squid-cache.org
(or advice on other ways to present it for comment).

Thanks,
Ben
