The Squid Software Foundation (foundation.squid-cache.org) is currently run by three Directors: Henrik Nordstrom, Amos Jeffries, and Alex Rousskov. Alex' term expires this January. We would like to elect one or three directors this month so that we have a total of three or five directors starting February 2012. If you would like to nominate yourself, please email [email protected].
A Foundation Director is expected to help with running Squid Project, including such activities as deciding how to raise funds and how to spend donations, all in order to help Squid developers and users. You do not need to be an expert fund raiser, negotiator, accountant, or manager, but you need to be willing to invest your time and energy to move Foundation projects forward. Expect to spend at least a few hours per month on Foundation matters (this is in addition to any volunteer work you already do such as Squid development, answering squid-users questions, or writing wiki articles). A single director term is three years. Please keep in mind that all Director positions are _unpaid_ and that Foundation's Conflict of Interest Policy will make it more difficult for any Director to contract with Foundation to provide paid system administration or web site design (when we have the ability to pay for these and similar Foundation services). Self-nominations are accepted from any country. We do not expect to have any face-to-face Board meetings in 2012. There may be a few virtual meetings per year, but we usually coordinate via email and online chat. The exact number of directors will be determined by the number and quality of nominations. The two current directors whose term does not expire in 2012 will vote the new directors in. If you would like to nominate yourself or are considering nominating yourself but have questions, please email [email protected]. Foundation Directors: Henrik Nordstrom, Amos Jeffries, and Alex Rousskov.
