proxy_auth vs. http_authentication ?

Hi,

The squid.conf states that proxy_auth does not work correctly 
when using transparent proxying. 

Is this info still true ? Is there a workaround for this ? 
I would like to use a combination of proxy_auth and transparent
proxying to implement an URL-Filter.
