Are talking about:
1) an offline mode;
2) a debugging operation to find what is actually cached;
3) overriding the default interval before revalidating;
4) overriding an explicit expiry date/max-age?
Some of these may be possible without source code changes, others are
almost certainly not possible using the main squid code to access the
cache.
