I don't think you can perform content analysis and modification, but
banners are easier - there's bound to be stuff about these in the archived
messages.
Basically there will be a separate object request for the banner ad:
eg http://www.more-junk.com/banners/makemoneyfast.jpg
(and then usually a pile of CGI stuff...)
All you have to do is use a redirector to detect common banner URLs and
redirect them to a locally served file along the lines of
little_white_dot.gif or something tiny.
As for rogue Java and ActiveX: I myself would be interested in any
recommendations in this field.
