Squid uses TCP/IP communication on the loopback interface (127.0.0.1) to
communicate with it's sub probgrams. It may be possible that your
ipfwadm filters accidently filters this traffic out. Or Squid simply
can't find the dnsserver binary..
try
ipfwadm -I -i accept -W lo
to accept all traffic on the loopback interface unfiltered.
