hey Francessco, I actually tried to troubleshoot the problem on my own while I was waiting to hear from other people. I'm using OpenBSD 5.6, which I would assume would be one of the OS's trialled by the developers.
It turns out my mistake was with the --with-openssl switch I wasn't specifying the location which by default is different for my OS.
