The biggest there is C++11 support being enabled on CentOS. That
alone
enables quite a few performance optimizations in the stdlib
template code.

Hi,
We have tested squid in Debian 10 and performance are now the same
as CentOS 7
So Debian 10 should be the best choice but it is not released
yet...
