oops, I modified the correct config file but 'squid -k' without -f uses the
default (wrong) config file.
So only the first question remains: Does the workaround work for Squid 6.8?

My squid.conf (v6.8) has "email_err_data off" but "squid -k parse 2>&1 | grep
email_err_data" produces nothing. Is this expected behavior?
checked with Debian's 5.7 and 6.13, both show the line.
Are you sure you modified correct squid.conf file?
