Squid v7.4 does not have the corresponding fix AFAICT, but you are
welcome to try patching it as mentioned in the bug report.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Unfortunately the above patch does not apply cleanly to 7.4 and I had to
remove the part which involves FTP.
In any case I'm testing the patched version and I'll let you know if I
get further crashes.
