http://www.ircache.net will help you to test your new web sever config to make sure it cacheable for how ever long you specify

What robert is talking about is the Expires: and/or Cache-Control: max-age=... HTTP headers. These are controlled by you web server configuration. See also the refersh_pattern setting in squid.conf.
