[squid-users] squid digest_pw_auth

Hello!
Have anyone managed to generate valid password file for digest_pw_auth helper program? 
I mean, what program should i use for this?
I've tried to use "htdigest" from apache distribution and then manually edit it:

<username>:<digest>:
test:b1046be858091c7011cd52ab937399dd:
------------------
this is correctly understood by digest_pw_auth isn't it?
but authentication fails. 
i'am testing squid-2.5.STABLE1-20030213
