[squid-users] install and squirm

I am trying to install squid. It is currently running but I also want to 
install squirm. When I try to install squirm I get the following error:
$ cd /usr/ports/www/squirm
$ make install clean
===>  Installing for squirm-1.23_1
===>   squirm-1.23_1 depends on file: /usr/local/sbin/squid - found
Error: /usr/local/ not writable.
*** Error code 1

Stop in /usr/ports/www/squirm.
I have created a user/group squid and a squidadm group and added users 
.What am I doing wrong
