[squid-users] Is username encrypted in digest authentication?

I am wondering if the username is encrypted during digest
authentication? I am aware that the password is encrypted but have not
yet been able to determine whether the username is passed encrypted or
as plain text.

Any help would be appreciated, as would a sample of a digest
authentication packet. Thanks.
