works fine without proxy.
so, def. there is a catch in squid config only somewhere.
Even , upgrade also would not help in this case.

Same problem with Squid 2.5 Stable 4:

Entering  http://62.140.207.50/portal_admin  shows the login/password field
but  http://msd.my.yahoo.co.uk/portal_admin  does not.

access.log shows:
