Speaking up as the squid maintainer on FreeBSD:
The FreeBSD port of squid 2.5 currently contains all patches that were
issued until Feb 20. I have submitted a "maintainer update" to
squid-2.5.STABLE5 plus the first two patches and I hope this gets
committed soon. You can include the official patches manually into the
port in the meantime and see whether they fix your problem.
Added the patches ... and it works.
